About



Owner Emily Strongin is an animal end-of-life doula with over 20 years of experience in pet care and animal welfare. She also has 10 years of non-profit leadership, teaching experience and has dedicated her career to educating others about compassionate animal care and how to be stewards of the environment. Emily is a graduate of the University of Vermont Companion Animal End-of-Life Professional Certificate Program and Grief and Bereavement Specialist Certification. In additional to her certifications from UVM, she received the Animal Hospice Advocate Certificate from the International Association for Animal Hospice and Palliative Care (IAAPC). She previously served on the board of the Association of Professional Humane Educators and is also a Level II Reiki Practitioner.

Emily has also volunteered in human hospice care, wildlife rehabilitation and has demonstrated a love of all animals and for others. Outside of her professional pursuits, she enjoys being in nature, singing in Carolina Voices, traveling with her husband, reading, and spending time with her dog, Ruby and cat, Gatsby.

What is an end-of-life animal doula?

Doulas provide non-medical support, advocacy, and education to a client or family. Family refers to spouse, partner, family member(s), or friend who the client wishes to include.  I am independent, self-employed, insured, and work for the client or family, not a specific animal hospital, clinic, hospice, or palliative care service. I do not practice under any medical licenses. I am based out of Charlotte, NC.

Are appointments in person or virtual?

Discovery Sessions are held virtually
Appointments are held virtually and in person depending on preference of the client
Located in the Charlotte Metro area

Do you administer medicine?

No, my role is to companion you, and my support is provided as a non-medical complementary resource and is not meant to replace veterinary care. Please reach out to your veterinary professional with any questions or concerns first.

Are your services only for cats and dogs?

I am here to support animals and their guardians of all species and ages.
