During this presentation you will learn we have a business directory covering the whole U.S., we have a database with demographics that will provide maps and charts down to the Census Tract level, and if you want quarterly D&B reports on industries we've got those and much more. All you need is a Library Card.

Mimi CurleeLibrarian, Charlotte Mecklenburg Library
Mimi Curlee has been a Librarian with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library since 1991. She has a Masters in Library Science and is the Library’s Federal Documents Librarian. She uses the Library’s resources including business databases, Census data, referrals, and any other tricks she’s learned over the years to help business people find the information necessary for success. As a native of Charlotte, she grew up on the east side, graduated from Garinger High School, UNCC and the Other Carolina.
Alexis GordonInternational Business Manager and Chief of Protocol, Economic Development, City of Charlotte
Alexis maintains the City of Charlotte’s trade and diplomatic connections. Her role includes connecting with foreign firms coming to Charlotte and local companies looking to explore global markets. On the protocol side, she helps visiting diplomatic delegations learn about our community and advises elected officials and staff on international affairs.
In 2008, Alexis joined the City as contractor for Mayor’s International Cabinet. Previously, she worked her way through Charlotte’s press scene from radio reporter to TV producer. She currently serves on the board of Charlotte Sister Cities and USGLC’s State Advisory Committee for North Carolina. In 2019 she was named a Carolinas World Trade Association’s Leader in International Commerce.
Alexis, born in Honolulu, grew up a Marine Corp brat posted mainly in Europe and the Far East. She holds a Masters in International Relations and Diplomacy from Leiden University and The Netherlands Institute for International Relations, Clingendael and a BA, with honors, in Mass Communication-Broadcast Journalism and Political Science from Winthrop University.
